Capturing the Light of Life for Families Battling Illness
Hello, I am KAME.
I am a Pharmacist and a Photographer. Currently, I am leading a non-profit project called ”The Family Legacy Photo”.
Supported entirely by generous donations ,this project provides complimentary professional family photography sessions to families caring for children with disabilities, rare diseases, pediatric cancer, or heavy medical care needs, as well as families where a parent is facing a life-limiting illness.
Where It All Began
My mission started with a single, unforgettable encounter with a mother. She was caring for her child who had an intractable disease, had already lost her husband, and was desperately fighting her own illness. She was living each day with everything she had.
In a casual conversation, she murmured something that pierced my heart: "We might not have a single photo of the entire family together."
In that moment, it struck me to my core. "It is precisely because a family is fighting illness that they need a family photo to serve as an emotional anchor."
There should never be barriers to preserving a family’s history. I felt a profound sense of duty. My two worlds—the medical knowledge and deep compassion for patients of a pharmacist, and the artistic eye of a photographer—merged, and The Family Legacy Photo project was born.
Healing Pain That Medicine Cannot Reach
In days consumed by treatments and medical care, families often have no time or energy to think about taking photos. However, I believe a photograph has the power to heal emotional pain that medicine cannot cure.
For the children: It becomes a source of self-esteem, a tangible proof that says, "I am loved."
For the family: It becomes a beacon of light for the future, a support that helps them whisper, "Let's keep going tomorrow," even in the hardest times.
A Circle of Kindness
The Family Legacy Photo is funded entirely by donations from compassionate companies and individuals. This removes the financial burden from these families completely.
This is not just a free service. It is a "Circle of Kindness"—a way for society and people around the world to stand in solidarity with families fighting for their lives.
I pour my heart into crafting the entire experience: the time leading up to the shoot, the warm and shared space on the day of the session, the moment the photo is displayed at home, and the irreplaceable moments spent gazing at it. I ensure that every step becomes a glowing memory for the family.
My Vision
I aim to create a society where illness is no longer a barrier to capturing family memories. I want these photos to become a "Legacy"—a living testament that lights the way for the family’s future.
